Mm. Eliane Tillieux
President of the Belgian Chamber of Representatives
Madam President
With reference to news reports that have reached us, the treaty for the “Transfer of Sentenced Persons” between the Belgian government and the theological regime (Islamic Regime of Iran) has been submitted to your House.

We, the undersigned, wish to bring the following facts to your attention, before the treaty is put to the vote:

1- Islamic Republic of Iran does not have the necessary capacity to change its fundamental attitude towards respect for international norm and law. The theological system in Iran cannot survive in a democratic and open society, and play by the rules.

2- Europe and other countries believing in the free market, have on many occasions fell into the IRI’s trap of meaningless promises, which has bought time for the IRI to develop and expand its nuclear programme, and its damaging intrusion in the volatile region in the West of Asia.

3- Historical facts have proven on many occasions that the West had to reverse its support for dictator regimes in Iran, such as its support for the Shah, when people wanted a change of system that would enable them to enjoy democracy. Any fresh support for another corrupt and criminal regime, such as the IRI, can only bring embarrassment for the supporters, and distance the people of Iran from the Western way of life.

4- Members of your House not only represent the political view of Belgians, but also their belief and points of view on human rights, social justice, and law obedience. Passing this treaty in your House, will deliver the clear message that Belgium has common grounds with a theological fascist state such as the IRI. This, we have no doubt, will outrage your constituents.

5- We condemn the contents, and presentation of the proposed treaty to your House, and sincerely hope the House will block such a disgraceful treaty.

Thank you for your attention
